Girl Scouts of South Carolina –
Alumnae Identification and Reconnection Campaign
Our statewide, year-long alumnae identification campaign was
launched on February 23, 2012, in conjunction with our Year of the Girl Launch
at the State House.
We are asking our girl and adult members, as well as
alumnae, to help us collect contact information from at least 30,000 Girl Scout
alums in our state.
The best way to get them signed up is to send them to the
Girl Scout Alumnae Association website at http://alumnae.girlscouts.org
Urge our alums to proudly display their “once a girl scout, always a girl scout”
stickers on their cars (bumper or window) for the next year. Information and instructions are printed on
the sticker’s backing sheet.
Who’s an Alum? Whatever your Girl Scout role may have been—Brownie, Junior,
Cadette, troop leader, camp volunteer, staff member, or dozens of others—you’re
part of a 50-million-strong network of Girl Scout alumnae.
How Can You Help?
Here are some ideas of how you can identify and reconnect
with Girl Scout Alums:
· Have some stickers and paper sign-up forms at
your Girl Scout Cookie Booth.
· If your place of worship is recognizing Girl
Scout Sunday/Sabbath, have some stickers and paper sign-up forms there.
· If your troop or service unit is planning an
Alumnae Tea, or a Girl Scout History Exhibit, have some stickers and paper
sign-up forms there.
· Ask the girls in your troop if they would like
to challenge themselves to find one or two alumni during a particular week or
month – Girl Scout Week is an ideal time!
As you get to know some former Girl Scouts, you will find
they are great people. Some of them may
be a perfect addition for something your troop would like to do/experience/learn
about/visit. Invite them to get
involved. If their interests are not
well suited to what your troop is interested in, help them connect with another
troop or someone at the service unit or council level.
Once they join the Girl Scout Alumnae Association, and
select our council – South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands -- they will begin
to receive occasional communications from our Girl Scout Council.
Up” forms are for those who are not web-oriented and for settings where collecting
the information on-site makes more sense.
All completed paper “Sign Up” forms should be turned into our Girl Scout
Service Center, and they will be forwarded to Marie Harrison, at the Columbia
Girl Scout Service Center, for entry.
of “once a girl scout, always a girl scout”
stickers that are distributed and displayed proudly will be used to roughly
count the number of alums who have been identified this year.
Sign Up forms are available at each Girl Scout Service Center for those
individuals and troops who have the occasion or means for identifying alumnae
in the coming months.
