Women of Distinction honorees exemplify what it means to be a true leader for every girl who dreams of changing the world. They are women who stand up for their values despite adversity; women who seek to serve others; and women who improve the world around them.
On Thursday, April 13, we honored these exceptional women with an awards ceremony and dinner at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. It was our distinct honor to celebrate their dedication to giving back, the strong example they set for our girls, and their outstanding leadership- big and small. Because here at Girl Scouts we teach girls to take the lead every day. Whether it’s as simple as asking the new girl to sit at their table, or as big as earning the Gold Award, Girl Scouts know that leadership is a daily practice. That is exactly what our Women of Distinction represent. They each live a life filled with everyday leadership moments that inspire, empower, and encourage.
Emily England Clyburn, Therese Griffin, Sharon Brown Harriott, Judge Amy McCulloch, and Xiaolan Michelle Wang Cao are all women who exemplify the kind of leader girls want to be. They model the power of G.I.R.L. for our girls, communities, and world.
