Gold Award Project
Recycling for Sight
“My Gold Award Leadership Project was a result of an orbital fracture I sustained years ago. Motivated by my personal experience, I gave community presentations about the importance of vision care and yearly eye exams, and about diseases that affect eyesight and vision treatments. Through my recycling drop boxes, I collected 689 pairs of used eyeglasses, 206 pairs of lenses – and even four hearing aids – to donate to people who are unable to afford glasses,” Emoni shares. “Girl Scouting has taught me to be a leader through accepting others and their differences, and that, in order to be a great leader, one must first have a servant’s heart. I know that if I strive to do something, I can accomplish it.”

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Report a Problem
