destination Fund

With the new fall product sale program, there is a new travel scholarship fund established for any older girl that is accepted and attends a destination or Girl Scout Leadership Institute as identified by GSUSA. The council will provide up to $500 to be paid towards the program fee of their destination. This money will be paid directly to the sponsoring council. Girls must let the Outdoor Program Manager know if they have accepted the invitation to attend by sending a copy of the event acceptance letter.

D-Pass Grant from GSUSA

The Girl Scout council has the opportunity to apply for this grant from GSUSA. If selected to receive financial aid through the D-Pass Grant we may be able to assist girls with up to 90% of their travel cost to the destination. The amount each girl is awarded depends on the following:

  • Cost of program fee>
  • Cost of travel to destination site – copy of travel cost must be submitted
  • If an event site offers their own travel or scholarship fund
  • Completed financial aid form (which is provided)
  • Girls must let council know if they have accepted the invitation to attend by sending a copy of the event acceptance letter.
  • Completion of a pre- and post-event parent and girl survey

Once girls have completed their destination, they must:

  • Contact Lynn Arve, Program Services Director
  • Make arrangements to share experience with other girls and adults in the council
  • Share pictures that can be posted on our council’s Web site
  • Write an essay about trip, experiences, and lessons learned
