|State and National Parks Offer Educational Programs|
SC State parks offer the Discover Carolina program which is divided into "Discover Nature" and "Discover History" tracts. Study geology at Caesar's Head, habitats at Paris Mtn., or stewardship at Table Rock. There's also frontier life at Oconee Station, revolutionary women at Musgrove Mill, or colonial skills at King's Mtn. Many of these parks also offer primitive or cabin camping.
Only 10 miles from Camp Star Fort, 96NHS offers several nature or history based programs as well as a traveling trunk that can be checked out. Cowpens NB offers a special patch just for Girl/Boy Scouts (available at BS store in Spartanburg). King's Mtn. NMP also offers opportunities, and all these National Parks offer Jr. Ranger programs which earn a patch.
Park Rangers are happy to work with leaders to customize programs and the costs are minimal. Have fun and see what's out there!
