You never know when you will need to be the medical first responder. If you and/or your troop love spending time outdoors, join Nantahala Outdoor Center SOLO instructors to prepare to care for yourself and others medically in the wilderness. Participants will learn basic anatomy and physiology, patient assessment skills, how to recognize and treat soft tissue injuries, muscle and bone injuries, head and spinal injuries, thermal injuries, and how to recovnize and treat shock. Learn what to do when faced with snake bites, stings, environmental exposure, and more. This class will be largely outdoors and based on real-life scenarios. Participants should be comfortable with realistic-looking injuries and illnesses and hands-on training. All participants who complete the class (test included) will receive SOLO Wilderness First Aid certifications. (All meals on your own – kitchen available. Lodging available in Lodge Common Room.)
