On Sunday, May 6, GSSC-MM honored 129 Silver Award Girl Scouts and 36 Gold Award Girl Scouts at the 2018 Gold & Silver Award Ceremony. Earning the Gold and Silver Award means much more than a certificate and pin. The Gold and Silver Awards, the highest honors that a Girl Scout can earn, represents how a Girl Scout can be a Go-Getter to create a solution for change, an Innovator to uniquely implement a new method, a Risk Taker to go beyond barriers, and a Leader who is focused on results. A girl who earns the Gold Award spends at least 80 hours planning, organizing, and working her project. She identifies a need in the community, innovates a solution, and takes action to make the world a better place. Leadership the Girl Scout way is not aspirational, it is the kind of practical leadership that makes change happen. Silver Award Girl Scouts will also spend 50 hours creating a sustainable project that will make a difference in their communities. We also honored our Honor Pin recipients and Graduating Seniors.
In true Girl Scout fashion, two of our very own Girl Scouts emceed the awards ceremony- we are so proud of how these young ladies stepped up and led like Girl Scouts. In addition to our Girl Scouts speaking, we got to hear from CEO, Kim Hutzell, and Rebecca Lever, Board Chair during the awards ceremony.
We are so proud of each of our Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award Girl Scouts and we congratulate all who were honored at the ceremony!
