Girl Scouts of South Carolina—Mountains to Midlands is an inclusive organization focused on delivering a leadership experience for all girls in kindergarten through twelfth grade.
One girl can make a difference; together we can change the world. Each year, thousands of girls in South Carolina discover new experiences, build friendships, and grow as leaders through Girl Scouting. We are committed to understanding and celebrating similarities and differences, building relationships, and promoting a dialogue of acceptance and respect. We strive to offer a safe, inclusive, pluralistic, welcoming place for all girls and their families.
We acknowledge the impacts of systemic racism, bias, and oppression, and will identify the barriers we have created or allowed to impact our council. We are committed to understanding how barriers have impacted girls of different races, religions, ethnicities, socioeconomic statuses, immigration statuses, sexual orientations, abilities, gender identities, geographic locations, and those impacted by other forms of bias and oppression. We must eliminate these barriers, responsively change our culture and practices, and actively embrace inclusion as an approach and an attitude.
Girl Scouts of South Carolina values diversity and inclusivity. We will be allies and not bystanders in the face of discrimination and bigotry. We commit to the ongoing accountability, transparency, and organizational changes this work will require. Each individual involved must uphold the tenet that Girl Scouting is for all girls. We strive to ensure that ALL who engage in this community are valued and recognized, and that they find a true sense of belonging.
