GSSC-MM now requires all volunteers interested in receiving their CPR and First Aid certifications to complete an in-person skills session. This can be done through a fully in-person course or through blended learning.
We encourage volunteers to use the American Red Cross "Adult, Child and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED Online" course, followed by an instructor-led skills session. This online course will prepare you to recognize and care for emergencies and features award-winning simulation learning and interactive experiences where you will respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting to help prepare you to recognize and respond to a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants.
At this time, we are working with American Red Cross and volunteers from across the council to create a plan to facilitate and expand our in-person CPR/First Aid trainings. If you are unable to attend a council-led training, GSSC-MM will reimburse eligible volunteers (one per troop/per year) up to $35 to cover the costs of the course, for all approved CPR/First Aid courses. To receive reimbursement, first purchase the course on your own, complete the course (average time: 2 hours, 45 minutes), and submit your proof of payment, course completion, and a reimbursement request form to customercare@gssc-mm.org. If you have any questions about approved courses, please refer to the Safety Activity Checkpoints.
