This virtual training is designed for Girl Scout Seniors, Ambassadors, and the adult volunteers who support them as they begin the Gold Award process. Participants will gain a clear understanding of Gold Award requirements, the Gold Award rubric, and the difference between community service and a true Take Action project. Topics include identifying a community issue, researching root causes, developing sustainable solutions, building a team, demonstrating leadership, measuring impact, budgeting, fundraising guidelines, and completing proposal and final report requirements.
The training also reviews the proposal submission and presentation process, project timelines, and common reasons proposals are returned for revision. Adult volunteers will learn how to support Girl Scouts throughout the process while ensuring projects remain youth-led.
In addition, each Girl Scout will be matched with a Gold Award Coach who will provide guidance, feedback, and encouragement throughout the Gold Award journey. Coaches serve as mentors and resources, helping Girl Scouts navigate the proposal, implementation, and final report process while supporting them in developing a meaningful and successful project.
By the end of the training, participants will have the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to develop a Gold Award project that aligns with Gold Award standards, demonstrates leadership, and creates lasting community impact.
