GSSC-MM offers resident camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains at Camp WaBak. Since 1948, Camp WaBak has been serving girls with opportunities for unique outdoor experiences. Whether you are swimming in the pool, paddling in a canoe, building a fire, or hiking to new heights, there are more activities and adventures than you can imagine waiting for you at Camp WaBak.

Camp WaBak is an overnight camping experience for girls entering first through twelfth grades. We offer programs up to 2 weeks long, in which girls will gain leadership skills, explore the outdoor world, and make new friends.

Traditional Camp
$385 per week

Our traditional camp sessions provide girls the chance to explore our weekly themes through a girl led lense. Girls work together in their age-level grouping to plan their week and determine what activities they take part in. Themed activities are incorporated through badge work, individually chosen activities, and all camp activity sessions.

Week One - Sampler Camp

Sampler Camp, June 10-12 - This introductory camp experience is the perfect start to your girl’s summer. Girls will sample different camp activities in this shortened summer session. This is the only camp that is available to girls entering first grade.

$210 per week

Week Two – Glitz and Glam Girlz

Glitz and Glam Girlz, June 14-19 - Bring all your style and personality to this week at camp.  Learn about fashion, DIY self-care, fitness, and show off what makes you unique. 

Week Three - Outdoor Skills

Outdoor Skills, June 21-26 - The outdoors is the focus this week. Girls will work on outdoor focused badges and will plan an outdoor adventure with their unit.

Week Four - Life Skills

Life Skills, June 28-July 3 - Camp helps grow girls independence and this week they will be focused on the skills they can learn while at camp. From cooking to budgets, girls will determine the skills they want to expand on during their week.

Week Five - Muggle Magic

Muggle Magic, July 5-10 – Grab your broom and robes and head out to Camp WaBak for a week of wizarding magic. Girls will attend potions class, pratice herbology, and other favorite wizard classes.

Week Six - Love Your Planet

Love Your Planet, July 12-17 - Show the earth that you care this week. Girls will reuse, reduce, and recycle their fun while they learn how to be good environmental stewards.

Week Seven - Theater Camp

Theater Camp, July 19-24 - Show your dramatic side this week while you tread the boards of the Rambler Stage.  From pantomime to improv, this camp will bring out your theatrical side. 

Week Eight - Girl Led Getaway

Girl Led Getaway, July 26-31 - This week, the girls are in charge. Girls will work together in their unit to determine what activities they do, what badges they earn, and all the fun they want to have.

Week Nine - Girls Give Back

Girls Give Back, Aug 2-7 - You love Camp WaBak, now let’s show it that love. Girls will spend time each day working on service projects that help make camp even better. 

 

Equestrian Camp

$480 per week

Discounts: $25 Member Discount

Equestrian Camp now offers a variety of levels to suit a larger range of riding skills.  All girls will learn how to safely work around horses, basic care, grooming, and saddling when not riding out in the arena. Girls may work on badge requirements and explore special topics about horses.  

All riders, both intro and intermediate, will be paired with a horse of appropriate temperament and ability to ensure a safe and fun session out at the barn.

Intro sessions are for riders with none or limited riding experience, such as pony rides, 1 to 2 sessions at camp, or infrequent lessons during the year.

Intermediate level sessions are open to girls who can proficiently steer their horse using two hands, have correct posture and leg form, and are able to halt, reverse, circle, and weave their horse with no assistance. The intermediate sessions are for riders who may take lessons or had several years of training at camp.

Tripping

Discounts: $25 Membership Discount

Tripping programs offer an opportunity for older campers to spend part of the week at camp and part of the week off on adventures ranging from zip lines and white water rafting to art classes and museum trips.

Tripping Sessions are for girls entering seventh through eleventh grades.

Week Three - Rock On

Rock On, June 21-26 - Try your hand at rock climbing both indoors and out. Girls will learn skills to improve their climbing while challenging themselves to reach new heights. $500

Week Four - Local Hiker

Local Hiker, June 28-July 3 - Explore the world on foot. Girls will hike trails both on and off camp while learning what it takes to environmental steward. $480

Week Five - Day Tripper

Day Tripper, July 5-10 - Explore Ashville, Charlotte and Greenville like never before. Girls will make day trips to 3 area cities to explore their history, culture and unique offerings. From museums to open spaces, girls will discover what is great about these places. $600

Week Six - Artistic Adventurer

Artistic Adventurer, July 12-17 - Explore your artistic side with visits to museums, pottery making, and specialized art classes. $500

Week Seven - Adventure Tripper

Adventure Tripper, July 19-24 - From zip lining to white water rafting every day is an adventure. $550

Week Eight - Water Lovers Day Tripper

Water Lovers Day Tripper, July 26-31 - If you love the water, this week is for you. You will float, swim, and paddle during this week all about water. $500

 

Leadership

Discount: $25 Member Discount

Our leadership programs offers girls entering tenth through twelth grade the chance to learn new skills to expand their leadership. 

CIT I

July 5-10 and July 12-17 campers attend both weeks but return home over the weekend- Learn the skills and techniques that successful camp counselors use every day. Girls attending will earn their CIT I pin and qualify to attend CIT II the next summer. $300

CIT II

June 21-26 and June 28-July 3 campers attend both weeks but return home over the weekend - Build on the skills you began in CIT I while you take on more responsibility within your units. Girls attending will earn their CIT II pin and may return as a Counselor Apprentice. $250

Counselor Apprentice

Are you ready to take on the role of camp counselor but are not yet 18? Counselor Apprentices will live and work in a unit while continuing to build their skills under trained staff. $75 Sessions are available each week.

 

Family Camp

$50 per person 

June 13-14

Share your camper’s love of Camp WaBak with her at Family Camp. Families of girls entering first grade through twelth grade will experience all the fun of camp from arts and crafts to campfire singalongs. Families will be provided accommodations together but will have fun connecting and sharing with other families.
